Biographical Sketch

Dr. Narozny is currently leading Tagattitude's Signal Processing Team in Paris, France. In this position, he is responsible for the design and development of Tagattitude's patented NSDTTM technology, a set of acoustic modems for the transmission of digital data over the aerial acoustic channel and the voice channel of cellular, PTSN, and VoIP networks, with applications in mobile payment, mobile-based strong authentication, mobile marketing, and access control. From 2002 to 2005 he was a Research Assistant in the "Information, Multimodality & Signal" (IMS) research group at Supélec (Metz, France) . He has also worked as a R&D Sonar Engineer in the General Sonar Studies Group of Thales Underwater Systems Pty Ltd (Sydney, Australia) from 2000 to 2002.

In 2007, he was awarded 150,000 € by the European Space Agency (ESA) for a 1-year feasibility study on the application of his Ph.D. thesis to the on-board compression of hyperspectral satellite images. This achievement was the result of Dr. Narozny's personal initiative to bring together industrial and academic partners around the applications of his Ph.D. thesis.

His research interests include Independent Component Analysis (ICA), Blind Source Separation (BSS), transform coding (DCT, KLT), image/video compression (JPEG, JPEG2000, MPEG, H.264), speech compression (VAD, DTX, codecs FR, HR, EFR, AMR, QCELP, SMV, EVRC), statistical signal processing, digital communication (modulation, channel coding, interleaving, synchronization), aerial acoustics, underwater acoustic imaging (ultrasound beamforming).

Michel Narozny received a B.S. in Physics from the Henri Poincaré University (Nancy, France) in 1997. In 2000, he graduated with both a M.S. in Signal and Image Processing from the University of Aix-Marseille III and a M.S. level postgraduate degree in Engineering (Diplôme d'Ingénieur) from Ecole Centrale Marseille. In 2005, he received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Paris XI.

Dr. Narozny is a reviewer for the international journals IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, and Information Sciences.
